About Us

About NHRWA

Founded in 2000, the New Hampshire Chapter of the Romance Writers of America is a non-profit organization promoting the reading and writing of romance fiction!

We are a chapter of the Romance Writers of America organization — a professional association for 8,500 published and aspiring romance writers. Members of RWA write the novels that make up 48% of all popular paperback fiction and generate more than one billion dollars in sales each year.

Membership in RWA includes a monthly magazine with craft and industry articles, updated market information, an annual conference with the opportunity to meet editors and agents and attend writing workshops given by best-selling authors, and the opportunity to participate in competitions such as the RITA for published authors and the GOLDEN HEART for unpublished writers.

Who We Are

NHRWA is dedicated to promoting excellence in romance fiction and provide continuing support to our members within the romance publishing community. We currently have 30+ members, including many published authors in the fields of single title romance, historical romance, category romance, and electronic romance publishing!

We meet monthly, September through June. Our meetings consist of the following:

  • Business discussion of chapter dealings
  • Guest speaker, who may speak on any number of subjects related to romance writing
  • Critique sessions in which members bring pages of their current manuscripts to share with the other members, who provide both written and oral feedback.

Mission Statement

“To promote excellence in romantic fiction; to help writers become published and establish careers in their writing field; to provide continuing support for writers within the romance publishing industry; to promote and advocate an “author-friendly” environment in the publishing industry; to promote mutual support among members; to be a strong voice within the romance publishing, wholesaling, and retairies; and to strive to maintain and increase the market share of romantic fiction.”
